Starbucks has introduced something so revolutionary, so delectable, and simply incredible, that I almost forgive them for shoving pumpkin spice lattes down my throat every fall. I’m talking about its newest member of the pumpkin spice family, the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew. I dare to say that it is far superior to the infamous Pumpkin Spice Latte.
It used to be that when I thought about “instagrammable” NYC food, all I thought of was form-over-function, overpriced, and under portioned dishes that make a well-lit pic from an influencer the best way to enjoy them. If all of this seems unappealing, book a Ram Van (a day in advance!) and head over to Levain Bakery legitimately as soon as possible.
The cafeteria isn’t so bad. In fact, it’s wonderful, marvelous, and terrific. A cornucopia like the Marketplace, as it is officially called, deserves to be appreciated. I can name no other place where I can get rigatoni topped with tomato sauce and mushrooms then drop tens tongs worth of broccoli on to it.
In my short period of free time before I start work, I have been in the kitchen constantly– chopping, blending, dicing and…baking. Ah baking, such a delicate, yet serious form of chemistry that I cannot master. I rarely recipe write breads or cakes because I just can never get them just right. There is always a problem with the flour or sugar or maybe the oven temperature. I don’t know. I just can’t do it correctly.
