i read in the BBC about this very important social movement that is apparently happening in the united kingdom and across the world
Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, and Usher are among stars signing off social media including Facebook and Twitter in aid of singer Alicia Keys’ charity. The campaign Digital Life Sacrifice will raise money on Wednesday – World Aids Day – for Keep a Child Alive, which supports families affected by HIV/Aids in Africa and India. The celebrities have filmed “last tweet and testament” videos. They will sign back online when the charity raises $1 million. Their videos will appear in adverts showing them lying in coffins to represent what the campaign calls their digital deaths.
-love how doing something as marginal as closing our blog can save the world
-hope those students that are “protesting” and “occupying government buildings” see this and realize u can make change without being confrontational
-nice to finally be in solidarity with the millions of african children who cant afford blogs or facebooks and glad that we have finally found a relevant way to feel their pain
-wishin gaga would start a campaign where she eats peanut butter out of the jar to raise awareness fr hunger so i can save the world that way too
-since bono came to fordham i have felt inspired to make a difference/participate in more publicity stunts and want 2 thank today’s younger generation of pop stars for giving me that opportunity
