Matt Drudge Doesn’t “Get” Sarcasm

Internet media aggregator, and otherwise illiterate paranoid, Matt Drudge (of Drudge Report fame), has always had a tough time “decoding” sarcasm and satire into “Straight Talk” English. Most recently, The Drudge Report mistook a Politico piece that “confessed” that the vaunted New York Times crossword puzzle is, in fact, liberally biased, as… an actual confession that the NYT crossword puzzle has a liberal slant that runs five across.
Check out the “confession”, here.
Ya finally got 'em, Matty!
Ya finally got 'em, Matty!

The Politico piece is pretty obviously sarcastic in tone, and the title even mocks the ridiculous and baseless nature of “the NYT doesn’t doesn’t listen to me” whining that has been oozing out of lazy conservative pundits for the past 30 years or so. Maybe I’m wrong, but this all could have been one big zinger aimed at McCain advisor, and general meat head, Steve Schmidt and his recent lamentations about the NYT commitment to turning us all into homosexual Islamo-fascists. Maybe I’m also wrong in assuming that those who fail to grasp that ever subtle sarcastic tone, should probably stick to reading USA Today.

  1. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was curious what all is required to get setup? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very web smart so I’m not 100% sure. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank youPlano Roofing Pros, 3420 14th Street, #103-C, Plano, TX 75074 – (214) 556-5050
